Greek photographer Nikos Vasilakis creates captivating portraits of women that balance the boundaries of fashion photography and fine art. His images are distinguished by impeccable technique, thoughtful composition, and masterful retouching. This Cretan artist's work is regularly featured in fashion publications, and he teaches his own courses on photo post-processing.

From student to portrait master

Nikos Vasilakis was born in 1983 in Chania, Crete. At the age of 18, he moved to Heraklion to study at the University of Crete. The year 2004 proved fateful, when he first picked up a digital SLR camera. This moment awakened a passion for photography that would shape the rest of his life.

The photographer himself dislikes the term "fashion photographer," considering his work to extend beyond the confines of a single genre. Indeed, Vasilakis's work combines commercial appeal with artistic depth. He collaborates with fashion publications, photographs professional models, but transforms each shot into a work of art.

Perfectionism in Every Pixel

Vassilakis is a true perfectionist. He meticulously constructs compositions, develops the artistic image of his models, and meticulously performs post-processing. The Greek master has achieved virtuosity in retouching and even shares his finer points in his signature courses.

The photographer speaks frankly about his sources of inspiration: he is inspired by a woman's lips, eyes, and emotions. But not only that—street advertising posters, observations of people, works of art, music, and cinema. Vasilakis's main inspiration is everyday life in all its forms.
