Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf is often called a singer of the human body. This is entirely appropriate, as the artist favors models with athletic, even athletic, builds. He is inspired by athletes, bodybuilders, ballet dancers, and anyone with a perfect body, grace, and flexibility. But this master of the lens also has a dark side, one with a completely opposite meaning. Both sides coexist beautifully and complement each other in this photographic genius.

Erwin Olaf has achieved everything a photographer could wish for. He is famous, wealthy, and highly respected in the world of photography. His work is exhibited worldwide, and renowned artists call him their teacher and inspiration. He is an iconic figure of the glamour era and has no intention of giving way to ambitious young people.

It's hard to imagine that Olaf began his career as a photojournalist. He became fascinated with commercial photography almost by chance. Yet in interviews, the photographer often speaks dismissively of commercial photography and even denies any involvement in it.

As if trying to prove this, Erwin Olaf sometimes presents unusual and even frightening series of photographs. Thanks to them, he also bears the title of a genius of "sickening beauty." Dark humor, blood, decay, and deformity are so skillfully conveyed by the master that they evoke not rejection, but interest and admiration.

Olaf has won the PDN Award in New York, the London Photographers' Association Award, and the Silver Lion in Cannes. He is full of energy and ideas, and will continue to charm and surprise us.
