Gail Potocki is an artist who demonstrates human essence through symbols (25 photos)
To reinterpret the views of the old masters in a new way, while showing the essence of man - is this possible? Yes, if you're Gail Potocki.
Gail was born in Detroit in 1961. Currently lives and works in Chicago. Her works organically combine the techniques of such old masters who left their mark on her work as Fernand Hnopff, Jean Delville and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and magical realism.

Potocki's work has been exhibited in galleries around the world, as well as at internationally renowned institutions including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Minneapolis Museum of Art, the Toronto Art Gallery and the H.R. Giger in Switzerland.
Potocki's paintings have appeared on the covers of numerous books and magazines, and her collections of work have been organized into hardcover monographs.
Despite the fact that each painting by the artist is a whole universe of symbols, and all the characters are as serious and concentrated as possible, even with a superficial examination, humor, lightness and self-irony are noticeable. Which definitely won’t interfere with our strict, tough and largely monotonous world.
