Drowsy seduction in the works of Spanish portrait artist Soledad Fernandez
Spanish artist Soledad Fernández creates remarkable portraits imbued with peace and sensuality. Her realistic paintings celebrate the beauty of the female body and inner harmony. Her subjects are often sleeping or resting in relaxed poses, creating a calming effect on the viewer. 
Soledad Fernández was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1949. Soon after, her family moved to the small provincial town of Collado Villalba. The artist still lives and creates there, leaving her small homeland only for exhibitions and master classes. 
Fernandez is a professional artist. In the 1960s, she studied at the Seville School of Art, where she was mentored by one of the masters of modern Spanish painting, José Gutiérrez Valle. She later continued her studies at the Circle of Fine Arts studio in Madrid. 
In the early 1980s, the artist embarked on an extensive journey across Europe. She traveled to Paris, London, Rome, and Venice, visiting museums and galleries and meeting with master painters. During this period, she organized several solo exhibitions, which went largely unnoticed. 
Soledad Fernandez's first success came in 1987, when her paintings were exhibited at the Summer Gallery in London. This was followed by successful exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, and Zaragoza. Having become famous in Europe, Fernandez introduced her work to the United States. Her paintings were well received in galleries in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. 
According to art critics, the success of Soledad Fernandez's paintings with viewers is based on her ability to reveal feminine sensuality and beauty. The artist's high productivity also plays a role. Each time she exhibits her work, she presents new and interesting pieces.
