Cantabria is one of the popular resorts, an autonomous region and a historical region in northern Spain. It borders the Basque Country in the east, Castile and Leon in the south, and Asturias in the west. The northern regions of the region overlook the coast of the Bay of Biscay. The administrative center of Cantabria is the city of Santander.
Comillas, a resort town in Cantabria. Comillas is famous for the buildings of the Catalan Art Nouveau masters. Antonio López y López, first Marquis de Comillas, commissioned Joan Martorell to build the huge neo-Gothic palace Palacio Sobreliano (1881). The most famous building in Comillas is El Capricho ("The Caprice"), built using elements of the Mudejar style by Antoni Gaudí in 1883-1889. The building stands out with its minaret tower in yellow-green tiles. Nowadays the restaurant “El Capricho de Gaudi” is located here.
