Are these just friends or a couple in love? A Kiss Photo Project by Ben Lamberti (12 photos)

One day, photographer Ben Lamberty took a spontaneous photo of a couple kissing, and he enjoyed it so much that he ended up creating a whole series of passionate photographs, which were later published by the German magazine Zeit Magazin.

"All you need is love, love is all you need"—so go the lines from the famous Beatles song, which has been a kind of anthem to love for half a century. Photographer Ben Lamberty also decided to contribute to the celebration of this great and bright feeling by creating a collection of portraits in which his models passionately kiss.

In the summer of 2013, New York photographer Ben Lamberti took several photographs of kissing couples. He was so captivated by the process that he decided to continue the work and create a whole series.

Ben Lamberti's photo project featured his acquaintances, including not only real couples but also good friends. So, some of the kisses were real, while others were staged.

The series, which evokes famous love song quotes, features the photographer's friends of different ages and sexual orientations, who aren't necessarily in relationships but are happy to engage in play.

Ben Lamberti was in the room with the kissing couple as a bystander, asking the "lovers" to ignore his presence, as this was the only way to capture true emotions.

Naturally, Ben Lamberti was left with many impressions from the photo project.

"It was interesting to see how different couples reacted," says Ben. "For real couples, my request was more challenging, as kissing is something intimate for them, whereas the friends kissed during the shoot just 'for fun,'" the photographer explains.
