Incredible transformation: cute dogs before and after a Japanese haircut (19 photos)

Photographer Grace Chon shared a series of incredibly cute photos of dogs before and after Japanese grooming techniques on her Instagram. This technique is unique in that the groomer doesn't adhere to breed standards, but strives to highlight each dog's individuality. Each dog's unique characteristics are taken into account, ensuring a creative and individualized grooming experience.





This type of grooming takes several hours and is considered a true art form.



All dogs were photographed in Los Angeles, where Japanese-trained photographers work.

In 2016, Jeong began a photo project called "Hairy," which now includes over three dozen adorable before-and-after portraits.



"I had the idea to illustrate the transformation process, because often after a haircut you can't even tell for sure that it's the same dog," says Chon. "For the shoot, each dog specifically grew much longer and shaggier fur than usual. It's really funny when they can't see anything around them because of their fur."
