Hong Kong photographer Robert Sijka has been introducing the world to Maine Coons, the largest cats among domesticated breeds, for several years now. Massive features, rich fur, and an intimidatingly majestic look give these cats the appearance of real mini-lions. Robert Sizka loves to combine his two passions: photography and Maine Coons. Over the years of practice, the photographer has learned to show the greatness of these wonderful cats in all its glory.
Robert Sizka is a Pole who has been living in China for many years. Robert and his wife have always been in love with the majestic Maine Coon breed, and 8 years ago they began breeding these cats, later founding a cattery. After the birth of their first kittens, the couple faced the question - how to show them to the whole world?
Then, together with the Maine Coon kittens, Robert began to improve his photography skills - a business that he always loved. After several years of practice, the photographer came to his own style and gets great pleasure from working with such gorgeous models!
As Robert admits, the most common question addressed to him is how to make cats sit quietly during a photo shoot? His answer is always the same - it’s impossible! “Cats are not dogs, you can’t just pick them up and give them the command to sit still,” says the photographer. “That’s why I think that working with cats is much more difficult. When I’m asked such questions, I always answer that it’s a matter of two words - practice and patience." Sometimes Robert photographs people, but 99% of his work is about the 20 cats and kittens that live in his cattery.
