Magdalena was born in 1983 in Katowice, Poland, near Krakow, but when she was nine years old, her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In the States, Magdalena became interested in skateboarding, which eventually led her to photography.

"Where I come from, girls rarely skated. Boys laughed and called me a tomboy. Until I was 22, I didn't wear shorts—my legs were covered in bruises from unsuccessful tricks."

She wasn't very good at skating, but she was quite good at photography. At first, she photographed her friends, then began taking photography classes. When it came time to learn to photograph people, shyness became an obstacle. Then Magdalena began taking self-portraits—she took her first at age 14.

"My photographs were never about sexuality. They were about honesty. Clothes can say a lot about a person: what time period they're in, what music they listen to, whether they're rich or poor. But nudity is timeless. It allows you to be whoever you want, without being tied to context."

At 19, she moved to California to pursue her dream. There, she joined the metal band Green and Wood, where she played guitar for about eight years. Touring and performing greatly influenced her creative style, infusing it with the energy and atmosphere of the music scene.

Freedom, Road, Life

Magdalena always longed for travel and new experiences. At 14, she saved up money to travel to another city with friends. At 21, she went on a music tour with a metal band. Later, with just a few hundred dollars, she rented a car and drove around Iceland, camping and eating peanut butter.

"The more you learn, the more you want to explore. I saw endless majestic landscapes, and I wanted to include a person in them. So self-portrait became a part of my life."

She has photographed on the California coast, in the dense forests of Poland, and throughout Europe, including Madrid, Paris, and Le Mans. Landscapes and images captured during her travels occupy a special place in her portfolio. Magdalena is known for taking her camera with her everywhere, whether on a road through the desert or strolling through city streets.

From skateboards to global projects

Her documentary style, raw emotion, and authenticity of her photographs have attracted the attention of major brands. Today, her career has expanded far beyond a single subculture. She collaborates with global brands, shoots advertising campaigns, and continues to travel, discovering new horizons.

"I'm lucky: my clients want their advertising to look as honest and authentic as possible, and my shooting style is exactly that."

Magdalena eventually began shooting for Harley-Davidson, Converse, and Wrangler, and collaborated with the New York Times and Vogue. But even in commercial projects for major brands, she maintains her signature relaxed and warm approach.
