In 2025, thanks to peak solar activity, the northern lights shone especially brightly, spreading not only over the polar regions but also extending further south. This created exceptional opportunities for photographers from around the world to capture these magical phenomena.

The eighth annual Northern Lights Photographer of the Year competition attracted a wealth of stunning images from New Zealand, the United States, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, and other countries. The jury selected the 25 best entries, from both professional photographers and talented amateurs.
