An artist is renovating his hometown by filling potholes in the roads with mosaics (31 photos)
French street artist Emimem has come up with a very beautiful way to renovate his hometown of Lyon. Without relying on the authorities, he simply takes and places patches of bright mosaics wherever necessary - in potholes, cracks in the asphalt, on peeling walls of buildings.
For this, he was nicknamed the “sidewalk surgeon” - after all, he really seems to be treating them, doing painstaking work that requires professional skills, precision and the trained eye of an artist.
Emimem has been working on his unusual art project for the last ten years. He believes that repairing sidewalks with mosaics is "a poem that anyone can recite."
Residents of Lyon love his work - they make the streets unique and inimitable. At the same time, they serve as a clear reminder to public utilities that it would be nice to put the city in order.
