A clever illustration can tell more than words. This is the true power of art - without borders and language restrictions. Polish artist Pawel Kuczynski offers an honest look at modern society and its vices. His cartoons are painful but effective vaccinations.

Pawel Kuczynski drew from childhood and in his youth entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. He began turning his life observations into satirical illustrations in 2014 when a friend encouraged him to enter a cartoon competition and he was immediately hooked. Fast forward to the future, the 43-year-old artist is recognized worldwide and has received more than 140 prizes and honors. Ironically, his work, which raises questions about our dependence on technology and social media, has received more than half a million likes on Facebook.

The artist says he draws inspiration from his peers and colleagues, as well as from the old masters, in particular Caravaggio, “a genius in the play of light and shadow.” Kuczynski's work is often described as surreal, but he describes himself as "a realistic illustrator... of our surreal times."

Pavel Kuczynski's satire forces us to rethink some of the darkest aspects of modern life. "I notice people's reactions to my drawings... Very often they say that I illustrated their feelings."
