Paul De Longpre (1855-1911), French artist who painted mainly flowers.
Worked in America.
Paul De Longpre was born in Lyon, France, and was entirely self-taught.
At the age of 21, he exhibited in a salon for the first time. Having lost money in a bank failure in Paris, he moved to New York in 1890.
In 1896, an exhibition of his floral still lifes took place, which provided him with instant recognition. In 1899 he moved to California and two years later built a beautiful house in Hollywood, which became famous for its magnificent flower garden.
