The incredible photorealism of Anna Vypykh's erotic paintings (19 photos)
Looking at the works of Polish artist Anna Wypych, it's hard to believe they aren't photographs. But they are—all of her paintings are done in oil on canvas or wood panels. Anna has achieved incredible mastery in depicting the human body, and her canvases are highly valued far beyond Poland.
Anna Wypych was born in 1986 in Gdynia, where she currently lives and works. Anna first picked up pencils and brushes before school. By the time she graduated, she was a fully-fledged artist. She enrolled at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts and during her studies, won eight national awards from the Ministry of Culture, the Pomeranian Marshal, and the Mayor of Gdańsk.
In 2010, Anna Wypych won the Grand Prix of the national competition "Hestia's Artistic Journey." Her main prize was a month-long trip to New York, where she attended exhibitions, galleries, and master classes.
Anna Wypych's paintings can be seen in many galleries in Poland, at the European Museum of Contemporary Art (MEAM) in Barcelona, and in museum collections in Turkey, Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, and the United States.
The nudes in the artist's paintings are more than just bodies. Wypych paints concepts, ideas, and feelings. In an interview, she described her work as follows:
"I am a researcher, and I like to reflect on various themes that interest me at a particular moment. Each of my paintings has a story." I often write short texts and even poems that complement the painting. In fact, two motifs recur in each of my works. The first is positivity. Even when I talk about difficult subjects like fear and sadness, the ending, conclusion, and meaning of the work are always positive. The other theme, which always returns to me like a boomerang, is inner strength. A fortitude that sometimes seems almost like madness. It allows each of us to do wonderful things from time to time. ![]()
