People with no formal art training often achieve success in digital art. Modern technology allows those who have never held a brush or easel to create. German artist and illustrator Pete Tapang is a good example of such a "natural" who achieved heights in digital painting without the help of mentors.

Pete Tapang was born in 1980 in Frankfurt, Germany. He grew up in an ordinary German family with no connection to the arts. Pete started drawing in school, preferring to use ballpoint pens and pencils. By high school, he was already surprising everyone with his photorealistic works, which he created literally on the fly.

Tapang is self-taught, as all his artistic training came from drawing classes in school. When Pete got a computer, he discovered graphic editors. Photoshop became his primary tool, and he created most of his works in it.

The artist's primary theme is the nude female body. When asked why he persistently paints only women, Pete replies:

"People like to paint what they like most and what they're best at! Some enjoy painting buildings, landscapes, animals, or cartoon characters, but I think the most beautiful creation God has ever made is woman, so why not dedicate your art to her?"

Tapang doesn't adhere to a specific style, and his works include paintings in genres such as hyperrealism, pin-up, and even surrealism. Before picking up a graphics tablet, Pete, in the old-fashioned way, creates pencil sketches that are so beautiful they can be considered works in their own right.

Pete Tapang currently lives and works in Ashburn, Virginia, USA. He collaborates with renowned publications, advertising studios, and occasionally organizes solo exhibitions.
