Overcrowded Mexico City from Above (5 photos)

Mexican photographer Pablo López Muz has presented a unique collection of aerial photographs of Mexico City. The Mexican capital appears in the images as an endless canvas of buildings, covering the land to the horizon.

Mexico City is the most densely populated city in the Western Hemisphere, and its outskirts continue to expand. According to official data alone, over 20 million people currently live there, with a population density of 25,400 people per square mile, or 9,800 people per square kilometer, which is twice the density of Moscow.







1. The constant population growth and influx of new residents into the capital contribute to the city expanding, oblivious to obstacles like mountains and hills, covering the landscape with an even layer of houses. However, infrastructure construction lags far behind the number of new homes.
