Designed by Richard Jules, Le Cunctator was a mechanical time-lapse self-timer designed for Richard's Verascope series of cameras. This clockwork mechanism allowed the photographer to set a delay before the shutter fired, allowing time to position themselves in the frame or set the scene.

The device featured a visual signaling system: an orange shutter opened first, warning the photographer to remain still, and a white shutter appeared after the exposure was complete, signaling the end of the process. Combining the precision of a clockwork mechanism with the simplicity of visual indicators, Le Cunctator made shooting more controlled and professional.
