An Eerie Japanese Village Inhabited Only by Statues (14 photos)
Japanese photographer Ken Oki, who works under the pseudonym Yukison, was traveling through Toyama Prefecture when he stumbled upon an eerie sight: a collection of human statues scattered around the village of Fureai-Sekibutsu-no-Sato, which means "village where Buddhist statues can be found." 
"I felt like I'd accidentally discovered some kind of forbidden area. Incredible," Ken wrote on Twitter.
In fact, he discovered a park with 800 different sculptures of Buddhist deities and acquaintances of the park's founder, Mutsuo Furukawa. His plan was to turn the park into a popular tourist attraction where people would come to relax. Of course, it's a cool idea. But as time went on, the statues lost their relaxing properties and now evoke a sense of uneasiness.
Just imagine being alone and suddenly discovering something like this. At night. When there's no one around and no one to call for help. Yeah, very relaxing.
