This master of photography captured the most exquisite beauties of the 20th century in timeless beauty. His highly artistic black-and-white images graced the top fashion publications and appeared on over 500 covers of prestigious glossy magazines.

In the photographs of this legendary Italian, women never look away. They are passionate, confident, and infinitely beautiful. After all, they are supermodels. And it was Marco Glaviano who had a hand in this. The supermodel phenomenon emerged in the 1970s and 1980s with his active participation. He photographed Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Paulina Porizkova, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Joan Severance, Christy Turlington, Eva Herzigova, and many others.

Marco Glaviano, a photographic genius, was born in Palermo, southern Italy. He also graduated from the local university's architecture department, worked for a time as a theater set designer, and even played in a jazz orchestra. However, his interest in photography eventually prevailed.

"I was given a camera when I was five, and I started taking pictures of my beautiful sister," Marco recalls.

Since 1967, Marco Glaviano worked as a fashion photographer for leading Italian magazines, and in 1975 he moved to New York, where he became a staff photographer for American Vogue, and later for Harper's Bazaar.

His work has also appeared frequently in other American and European magazines, such as Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Glamour, and Vanity Fair. Marco has shot over 500 covers and editorials for these publications.

Fun fact: the first digital photograph published in an American fashion magazine was Marco Glaviano's photo for Vogue in 1982.

He would later be credited with creating the "supermodel" phenomenon—and it's no surprise, as it was his photographs of Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, and many other modern stars that propelled them to overnight fame.

Each photograph by Marco Glaviano conveys not only a beautiful visual image but also a well-constructed narrative.
