A Photographer Documents the Beauty of New York (28 photos)
Phil Penman photographs New York City, capturing the unique spirit of the Big Apple. This photo series features stunning black-and-white portraits of eccentric New Yorkers, as well as vibrant street scenes.
Penman's photography proves that in the city that never sleeps, there's never a dull moment. The British photographer previously lived in Los Angeles but then moved to New York.
"I love shooting on the street—that's how I learn everything. I know people who beg and then drive nice cars," says Penman.
"One time, a homeless person warned me about a bomb threat. It turns out, only the police knew—and the homeless, because they know everything!" says the photographer.
