Close-up animal portraits (15 photos) (photo)
Photographer Brad Wilson gets up close and personal with his subjects. Really close. It's no surprise that his new project is called "Intimacy." It's a series of photographs of wild animals taken at extreme close range. Wilson photographs the animals against a black background. The result is stunning shots of a wide variety of animals, each with a distinctive, expressive face that makes us want to look again and again.
While many of his "subjects" are wild animals, he photographs them outside of their natural habitat. Pictured: puma.

These animals are accustomed to humans, and Wilson knows they won't attack him. That's why he can photograph them from as close as possible. Pictured: a cheetah.
Of course, some measures still need to be taken. Pictured: a chimpanzee.
Furthermore, the animals are accompanied by keepers, and during photo sessions, they are given their favorite treats as a reward. Pictured: an elephant.
