Hell in a dollhouse: Ken doesn't like Barbie (11 photos)

Vancouver-based photographer Dina Goldstein has created a series of photographs illustrating the secret lives of Barbie and Ken behind the pink shutters of the Dream House. Though beautifully crafted and expertly executed, these works still evoke a sense of déjà vu.





It feels like Dina Goldstein set herself the goal of illustrating all the most popular clichés about the celebrity couple's family life: the constant hints at Ken's gay sexuality, the shopping obsession, the unquestionable dominance of pink, the plastic-sleek lifestyle, Barbie's dreams of a masculine GI Joe, and attempts to bring out the inherent tragedy of Barbie's existence, which is inevitable.
