American photographer David Drebin takes cinematic photographs that draw the viewer into the action. His photographs are like stills from glamorous Hollywood films, imbued with passion, eroticism, and mystery. Drebin's world is filled with sensual beauties, as if born of someone's unbridled imagination.





The Path to Olympus

David was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. After high school, obsessed with photography since childhood, he moved to New York City and enrolled at Parsons School of Design. After graduating, the young man found himself unable to find his calling and worked as a simple waiter for over 20 years. But all this time, Drebin continued to photograph, honing his skills.



Me and I

The photographer's first solo exhibition took place in 2005 in Los Angeles. There, Elton John saw Drebin's work and immediately purchased several of his photographs. The pop star became a fan of the artist's work, which significantly contributed to the rise of his career. Magazines and collectors began buying Drebin's photographs, and he later began working in the fashion and advertising industries.

David Drebin's work spans a wide range. He creates design, glass engravings, and custom lightboxes and neon installations. He is also considered the founder of a new art movement—photosculptures. These are three-dimensional prints of photographs in glass or acrylic.

But Drebin's life's work is, without a doubt, photography. When asked about the secret to his expressive works, the master replies that he has no particular secrets:

"I see the world with my eyes, heart, ears, and brain. I like to think of myself not only as a photographer, but also as a psychographer. I'm drawn to women with personalities, those who have life experience, lived through drama. The only instruction I give to everyone I photograph is: 'Don't do anything!'"
