The sunny, vibrant colors of these photographs take us back 40 years to the era when tourism in Rio was just beginning to develop. Canadian photographer Blake Smith captured the timeless and beautiful Copacabana Beach, the Christ the Redeemer statue, and Brazilian women enjoying the sun and strolling around in bikinis… in February 1978.
