This bright green species is called the ring-necked parakeet, and the most interesting thing is that they are not just visiting, but are true residents of the British capital.
Exotic birds from the Himalayan regions (India, Nepal, Pakistan) once escaped from their owners and gave rise to a large population that is growing by 30% annually and may now number up to 50,000 parrots.
The birds easily adapted to the local climate. They favored parklands due to the availability of a specific food source, dense vegetation, and people always willing to treat them.
Brave, omnivorous, intelligent, and vocal.
