Photographer Andrey Bezukladnikov





Andrey Bezukladnikov was born in 1959 in Perm. He became fascinated with photography as a child after seeing a photo of his grandmother taken in her early years. In 1978, he trained as a photographer in his hometown, served as a photojournalist in the army, and then shot for the newspaper "Young Guard." After moving to Moscow in 1986, Bezukladnikov began collaborating with theaters, film studios, and magazines, while simultaneously creating personal photography projects.

The photographer dreamed of a place to exhibit his own work and that of his friends, which led him to found the online resource Photographer.ru. Initially conceived as a virtual gallery, it eventually grew into a major informational and educational project dedicated to creative photography.

Since the late 1980s, Andrei Bezukladnikov's work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions abroad. His photographs are included in the collections of the Moscow House of Photography, the Musée des Elysées (Lausanne, Switzerland), the Museum of Photography (Aarhus, Denmark), the Bibliothèque Nationale (Paris, France), and the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts (Santa Fe, USA).

Bezukladnikov's desire to become a "keeper of time" is reflected in his works from the 1980s. Time seems to have truly been preserved in them. At the same time, the photographer avoided the sense of daring that characterized the photographs of his colleagues shooting during that period. Bezukladnikov focused equally on representatives of the Soviet underground and random passersby, bohemian figures and city backstreets. He emphasized not the subject matter, but rather the so-called "texture," the expression of sincerity and vulnerability.
