Amazing photos of falconry in Mongolia (11 photos)
In the mountainous regions of the Mongolian Altai, a small group of nomads maintains the ancient art of falconry. Hunting wild animals such as foxes and hares with the help of trained birds of prey is a powerful skill that is passed down from father to son here. And sometimes, although very rarely, to my daughter! German photographer Leo Thomas visited Western Mongolia and brought back beautiful photographs from there.
Today there are about 300 hunters in Mongolia, and only ten of them are women. However, the photographer managed to meet Zamanbol, one of them. Zamanbol is from a family of nomads and learns the art of falconry with his older brother Barzabai.
