Gentlemen's Clubs by Francois Prost - roadside strip establishments of America (40 photos)
The French photographer set out to photograph the strip joints of the American South, resulting in the formation of a major photo project, “Gentlemen’s Clubs.” This is a series of more than 200 photographs of hot spots lining the highway, which Francois Prost took in daylight.
Francois Prost is a graphic designer, art director and photographer based in Paris. He took all the photographs for the “Gentlemen’s Clubs” project in March-April 2019 during trips between Miami and Los Angeles. The result was a comprehensive photographic report.
Under the scorched blue sky, some empty clubs without customers take on a slightly dreary look, and their spatial isolation gives the photographs the effect of loneliness hanging in the air. We can only guess what the interiors of these strip establishments are like; unfortunately, Francois Prost showed only the facades.
