Dark nude fantasies by photographer Gobotoru

The surreal and dark works of photographer Gobotoru are familiar to many. His nude women, captured in the most incredible angles and settings, are recognized both in our country and abroad. But only the most devoted fans of this photographer's work know who hides behind the mysterious pseudonym and what it signifies.

The name Gobotoru is used by photographer Anton Novozhilov from Tallinn, Estonia. Anton is an electrical engineer by training, but he has been drawn to artistic photography since childhood. He began taking fantasy-inspired, painterly photographs as a teenager, but it took him years to develop his unique style.

In 2005, Novozhilov created his own unique technique and called it Gobotoru. This strange word immediately became his artistic moniker. Anton claims it's an acronym for the phrase "Comrade Rupert's Headaches," but whether he's serious or not is unclear.

Anton's photographs are dark, melancholic, and always monochrome. They sometimes depict things that seem impossible according to the laws of physics. His models walk along walls, fall like stones, or float along sandy rivers.

In the interview, Gobotoru emphasizes that he doesn't consider himself a professional photographer. His goal isn't a career or a living, but simply a way to express himself through art photography.
