An 11-year-old boy surprises the world with his hyper-realistic paintings (17 photos)
11-year-old Nigerian artist, Karin Waris Olamilekan, is quickly gaining international recognition for her precocious drawings. The boy has been drawing since he was 6 years old, mostly hyper-realistic portraits, but sometimes he goes beyond the usual boundaries.
Karin draws inspiration from everything that happens around him, especially his family, but he also takes a lot from his idols - the Nigerian artist Arinze Stanley, who also specializes in hyperrealism, and the Renaissance master Michelangelo.
The most famous work created by the boy is called “Daily Bread” - it depicts a man eating sweat and tears. “My family, we work hard before we put food in our mouths, before we eat,” explains Karin. “That inspires me.”
He is currently studying at the Ayowole Academy of Arts.
