Artist Theresa Sylvester Stannard (1898-1947) (31 works)
Theresa Stannard was the only daughter of the famous artist Henry Sylvester Stannard. Born in Flitwick on December 14, 1898, Teresa was educated at Bedford School, and was taught painting by her father. The girl showed artistic ability early, and at the age of 16 her painting was exhibited at the Royal Academy. Like the rest of the Stannard artistic family, the young artist received the approval of the Royal Family; both queens - Mary and Alexandra - purchased her works.
In 1930, Teresa married John Swinnerton.
The artist died on July 23, 1947.
