Tingatinga - genre of African painting (69 works)
Tingatinga is a painting style named after its creator, a Tanzanian artist of the 1960s. Eduardo Tingatinga (1937-1972). To create paintings, enamel paint is used, which is applied to muslin. Traditional subjects are images of animals, birds or human silhouettes.
The first paintings, approximately 60x60 cm in size, were painted on the walls of houses and on cardboard. In this regard, another name for the tingatinga style is square painting.
