The "Wild Animals" series, created by Dutch artist Roop van Mierlo in 2010, has become a true cultural phenomenon, despite initially appearing as a simple artistic experiment. In these minimalist watercolors, the artist managed to capture the very essence of the animal world, avoiding excessive detail and academic rigor. The artist masterfully uses a wet-on-wet technique, allowing the animal outlines to seemingly dissolve into space, creating a sense of primordial fragility and wildness. Over the years, these recognizable images have evolved from an intimate art project into a cult brand, now found on a wide variety of items, from designer clothing to home decor. It's incredible how a few blurry spots of paint have become so recognizable that they are now hard to mistake for anything else, even for those unfamiliar with contemporary art.
