Beach Museum: Artist Recreates Famous Paintings Using Colorful Pebbles (27 Photos)
British artist Justin Bateman is engaged in land art: he “paints” pictures by laying them out from beach pebbles of different colors and sizes. The result is a mosaic that can only be seen in person or in photographs. After all, such a creation does not live very long.
Bateman assures that the main thing for him is the creative process, and not the desire to leave a physical mark in art. So, after spending several hours creating each painting, he is forced to “surrender” it to the medium in which it was made, and accept its fragility and ephemerality. This is a very popular trend in contemporary art.
