An artist who brings things to life (16 photos)
Artist Christoph Nyman works as an illustrator for the New York Times. But he is better known to millions of fans for his Instagram page, where he weekly posts his “Sunday sketches” - pictures in which ordinary household items appear before us in an unusual, and sometimes even somewhat shocking, form.
Each Nyman illustration is a visual experiment, the objects of which are never repeated. “The objects themselves dictate to me what to do,” says the artist. “I take the first object I come across, put it on the desktop and just stare at it with all my eyes, waiting for something to click inside me. I capture and embody images, Having absolutely no idea what kind of result I’ll get, I’m looking for an unusual angle of view, a visual connection that surprises me every time - and the audience too.”
