The English artist Samuel John Birch (1869-1955) was a talented self-taught person who spent only a few months at painting school. Samuel Birch painted in a post-impressionist style, and his most successful paintings were produced only far from the city. He spent a long time in the village of Lamorna, where he painted landscapes and even took a pseudonym after the name of the area, which is why the artist is also known as Lamorna Birch.
Real, “confirmed” recognition of Birch as an artist came to him only at the age of 37, when he had his first exhibition, and in 1932 he became a member of the Royal Academy of Arts. The artist painted several thousand canvases, and also managed to teach aspiring painters.
