Even before his departure from Italy, he built an arena in Monaco and a dining room in the house of the Archduchess of Modena, in Vienna.
On behalf of Catherine II, Quarenghi built the building of the state bank, the Hermitage Theater and the arch connecting this theater with the building of the Old Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
In 1783-1791, according to the design of G. Quarenghi, the bell tower of the Vladimir Cathedral was built.
Paul I appointed Quarenghi as the architect of the Supreme Court and instructed him to build a house on Palace Embankment as a dowry for Anna Petrovna Lopukhina. In Tsarskoe Selo, Quarenghi built the Alexander Palace, which consists of two squares in plan, connected by a parallelogram with porches in the middle of the building, decorated with columns, and a theater building in the garden near the Grand Palace.
