Ellen Jareckie was born in 1959 in Bennington, Vermont. As a child, she spent a lot of her free time drawing. In addition, throughout her childhood she had various pets, including a pig, a partridge, several lizards, snakes, goats, ducks, rabbits, cats and dogs, and, of course, mice.
Ellen's first encounter with mice occurred when her sister brought home a mouse named Speedy from school. The girl immediately fell in love with this soft, warm, tiny creature. Soon after, Ellen picked up the orphaned wild mouse babies, who were then released in a nearby field.
Ellen drew all the animals, however, mice were and are the most popular. This may be partly because of the human-like expressiveness that Ellen gives them, or because people are fascinated by their small size compared to the vast human world. Based on some illustrations, patterns for cross stitch have been developed, which are popular among needlewomen.
After many years of drawing mice, Ellen, to the delight of fans of her talent, continues to enjoy creating these whimsical images and allows us to briefly plunge into childhood, when you believe in the existence of a small fairy-tale world next to us.
