Retro erotica by Portuguese photographer Igor Makovsky

Something inexplicable draws us to old photographs. This effect, oddly enough, also works with new, retro-styled photos. Lisbon-based photographer Igor Makovsky specializes in nude photography and is particularly fond of "old" photos imbued with the atmosphere of the mid-20th century.





Lisbon is an incredibly colorful city with numerous locations simply made for great photography. Igor Makovsky skillfully exploits this potential of the Portuguese capital. Sometimes it seems as if these are actually photos from the 1940s and 1950s, restored and digitized.



For Makovsky, no detail is too small—he creates an era around the model, not forgetting the clothing and accessories. Such shoots are incredibly complex and require considerable effort and resources, as finding lingerie worn half a century ago or a retro interior these days is incredibly difficult.



But the photographer's efforts are worth it. His women are beautiful and sexy, and the setting immerses us in the past. Masterfully using light and sepia, the artist achieves a cinematic quality to the image, and sometimes you want to ask which old film this or that frame came from.
