Cruise Ships - Stunning Views from Above (12 photos)

Modern cruise ships appear gigantic even from shore, but their true scale is only revealed from above. New York photographer Jeffrey Milstein gives us a unique bird's-eye view of these amazing floating behemoths.





In his mesmerizing photographs, Milstein captured every detail of these gigantic ships: water slides, golf courses, dance floors, basketball courts, and an endless variety of swimming pools.

Milstein first became interested in airplanes, ships, and other vehicles as a child. For the past 15 years, he has been known as a master photographer, specializing in aerial photography and photographing airplanes, ships, and infrastructure. His most famous and long-term project has been photographing the underbelly of airplanes in flight, taken from the ground. He has also photographed airports from a bird's-eye view while flying in a helicopter. These works demonstrate his astonishing photographic technique. This time, he photographed cruise ships.

His photo series, "Milstein's Cruise Ships," offers a bird's-eye view of a vast floating celebration of life. The New York-based photographer uses a high-resolution camera and specialized equipment to capture the ships from a helicopter with the door open.

Flying at altitudes of 300 to 500 meters above ground level, Milstein photographs ships from the passenger seat of a helicopter.



Milstein's photographs are so clear and detailed that when viewed in full 80-megapixel resolution, you can see every detail on the decks: passengers lounging on sun loungers, water slides, a golf course, dance floors, basketball courts, and swimming pools of various shapes and sizes.



Most of these photos were taken in Florida, at Port Canaveral, where many passenger cruise ships dock each year. Milstein also photographed ships in Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
