James has been creating this type of work for 12 years. His latest creation is a panorama of a crossing in Shibuya, one of Tokyo's most famous districts. He typed this painting for a total of 250 hours over the course of four weeks.
In his work, James uses a retro typewriter from The Smith-Premier, which he first loads with black and then with colored ink. In addition to random symbols, the artist types hidden messages that are only visible upon close inspection.
