A St. Petersburg artist who restores icons is getting millions of views. Kristina Karnaukhova has been drawing since she was five years old and has always dreamed of doing portraits, landscapes and classical painting. When she entered the Stieglitz Academy, everything changed: there she realized that she could create magic, giving dilapidated icons a second life.
On average, restoration of one takes several months or even years in the most difficult cases. Sudden discoveries are a special joy. In an icon painted more than a hundred years ago, Christina discovered a letter from her godfather to her goddaughter - the names could not be established, but the news from another era was very touching.
