Johnny Cash (born Johnny Cash; February 26, 1932, Kingsland, Arkansas - September 12, 2003, Nashville, Tennessee) was an American singer, a key figure in country music of the second half of the 20th century. Thanks to his music and lifestyle on and off stage, he has earned credibility among a large circle of music lovers, far beyond the country genre. He positioned himself as a “Christian country” performer.
The phrase “Man in Black” is associated with Johnny Cash, since since the 1960s it was typical for him to wear dark clothes (he explains the reasons for this in the lyrics of the 1971 song Man in Black).
