The artist makes almost real animals out of sand (39 photos)

Sculptor Andoni Bastarrica believes that sand is the best and most expressive material for sculpture. He creates figures of animals from sand that are indistinguishable from living ones!

Bastarrica began working with sand in the summer of 2010, and has considered it his calling ever since.

“Sand always teaches you what you want to learn,” says Bastarrika.

Bastarrika loves animals, so he dedicates his sculptures to them. “Animals are free-spirited,” says the sculptor. “People have a lot to learn from them.”

The sculptor works quickly: he created an elephant sculpture in 2 days, a horse and a buffalo took 12 hours, and smaller sculptures, for example, dogs, are created in 6-8 hours.
