An 80-year-old escalator turned into a work of art (10 photos)

The idea of turning the obsolete wooden parts of an old escalator into an unusual installation, thus combining the past and the present, belongs to the Australian architect Chris Fox. The five-ton Interloop structure, which loops endlessly above passengers' heads, has opened at Sydney Metro's Wynyard station.
