Cardboard box as a material for a sculptor (16 photos + 1 video)

Artist James Lake has been using cardboard as clay for the past 20 years. He was diagnosed with bone cancer at age 17, and began working with cardboard after his right leg was amputated. During rehabilitation, he was looking for a material that could be easily worked with right in the bedroom.

“I needed a medium that could be used without an art studio,” says Lake. “I manipulate the cardboard and it takes on a form that far exceeds its original function.”

And what he does is really great.
