The Rijksmuseum is the National Museum of the Netherlands, but at the same time it is not a government institution. The museum has an independent foundation, which provides approximately half of the income. But the Rijksmuseum could not exist in its current form without the help of individuals and organizations. World-famous masterpieces such as Rembrandt's "The Jewish Bride" and Vermeer's "Little Street" were purchased through donations.
