Willy Verginer was born in 1957 in Bressanone, and now lives and works in Italy. He creates simply amazing wooden sculptures, which emanate either icy cold or homely warmth. Still, the wood produces a strange effect, probably depending on what color Willie paints it. Usually these are some bright shades of lilac or violet. And yet Italy is the birthplace of Pinocchio, and Verginer’s heroes are built like gods.

But one can definitely note the realism of Willy’s works - the feeling that the sculpture is about to come to life does not leave the viewer for a second.
