Renaissance Auto Mechanics (7 photos)

American photographer Freddy Fabris always wanted to pay homage to the Renaissance masters, but he struggled to find a subject for his photographs. That is, until he stumbled upon an auto repair shop in the Midwest.





The result of this encounter was a brilliant series of portraits of auto mechanics, reproducing famous Renaissance paintings.

"Transforming paintings into photographs was a challenge I was looking forward to," says Fabris. "I wanted to respect the appearance of the originals, but I had to come up with a conceptual twist to create something new."
