The photographer spent 117 hours in the bitter cold for these shots
Every year from mid-February to mid-March, a monumental event occurs in Canada's Wapusk National Park: polar bear mothers emerge into the world for the first time with their four-month-old cubs.
Experienced wildlife photographer Daisy Gilardini decided to document this process and set out on a photo hunt. She ended up spending 13 days and 117 hours waiting in front of the den, with temperatures averaging around -50°C.
We admire the photographer's dedication and are publishing unique images taken in extremely challenging conditions.
